How Do I Get to Anna Maria Island?

Are you planning your vacation to Anna Maria Island and are curious about how to access our 7-mile-long barrier island? Anna Maria Island is super accessible with two bridges connecting it to Bradenton, the mainland, and one bridge connecting Anna Maria Island to Longboat Key. If you are traveling from out of state or out of the country, there are several great airports just a short drive away that make your travel convenient and easy.



Driving to Anna Maria Island

If you are driving to Anna Maria Island, you can choose between the Cortez Bridge on the southern end of Anna Maria Island or the Anna Maria Island Bridge that takes you to Holmes Beach. If you are coming from the south and driving through Sarasota, you can also easily access Anna Maria Island through the scenic Longboat Key and connect to AMI via the Longboat Key Pass.


Airports Close to Anna Maria Island

Sarasota International Airport is the closest airport to Anna Maria Island. Depending on your location on Anna Maria Island it is about a 30-45 minute drive. From Allegiant, Southwest Airlines, to American Airlines, this airport serves several direct nonstop destinations ranging from Asheville, NC to Columbus, OH. St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport is the next closest airport situated about 45-60 minutes north of Anna Maria Island.


Tampa International Airport is a large airport that offers lots of great domestic and international flight options. Check out their website for a full list of destinations.


Orlando Internation Airport is another large airport that is great for international visitors. Although this is the farthest airport many choose to make this a multi-stop vacation by combining a few days at the Orlando theme parks and then heading to Anna Maria Island for that relaxing beach vacation.
